PERSONAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM

The Arkansas Department of Human Services under the Elderchoices Program has certified the White River Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (WRAAA) as a provider of PERS (Personal Emergency Response Systems).  The units will also be available on a private pay basis.  WRAAA is working jointly with American Medical Alert Corporation (AMAC) to provide VoiceCare PERS.  Care Managers with WRAAA have been trained by American Medical Alert Corporation on how to install the units in the home and how to monitor the units on a monthly basis.

The emergency response units are specifically designed to support independent living, providing access to assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The special VoiceCare system establishes two-way communication with the client when the device is activated by a button on the unit or pendant in an emergency.  When the details of the emergency situation are determined by the Response Center, the proper responder is contacted (ambulance, police, relative) and notified of the emergency situation.

The units and service are available free of charge for those that qualify under the Elderchoices Program (Medicaid).  The units are available on a private pay basis for $33.00 per month and a one time $30.00 installation charge.

The White River Area Agency on Aging, Inc. is proud to be able to offer this service to residents of Northcentral Arkansas.  For more information contact the agency at 1-800-382-3205, or click on the link below.
