The White River Area Agency on Aging, Inc.
offers services to the family caregiver of an older person and in limited
cases to the Grandparent or Older Individual who is a relative caregiver
of a child not more than 18 years of age. These services are provided
in our ten county area in north central Arkansas as long as funds are available
and to caregivers with the greatest needs as determined through an assessment.
ELIGIBILITY
For the purposes of receiving public assisted
services, the following definitions apply:
Family Caregiver - is defined
as an adult family member, or another individual, who is an informal provider
of in-home and community care to an older individual. There are no
income guidelines.
Grandparent or Older Individual who
is a Relative Caregiver - is defined as a grandparent or step-grandparent
of a child, or a relative of a child by blood or marriage, who is 60 years
of age or older and (A) lives with the child; (B) is the primary caregiver
of the child because the biological or adoptive parents are unable or unwilling
to serve as the primary caregiver of the child; and, (C) has a legal relationship
to the child, such as legal custody or guardianship, or is raising the child
informally. There are no income guidelines, however only a maximum
of 10% of the agency's allocation for family caregivers may be spent in
this category.
SERVICES
FOR THE CAREGIVER
The White River Area Agency on Aging, Inc.
offers the following services for Caregivers based on need and the availability
of funds;
1. Respite Services
- Services to temporarily relieve the caregiver from their responsibilities
for short periods of time so that the caregiver may have a respite to relax,
conduct family business, and participate in other activities.
2. Supplemental Services
- Services to assist the caregiver with their task of taking care of their
loved one. May include in-home personal care services and homemaker
services.
3. Caregiver Training Classes
- Classes conducted in each county to improve the caregiver's ability to
provide care and to offer socialization and support while visiting with
other caregivers.
4. Aging Arkansas Monthly
Newspaper - A monthly newspaper
published by the Arkansas Area Agencies on Aging that contains valuable
information for caregivers.
5. Care Management
- An Eldercare Advisor who works with the client and family to secure and
manage the appropriate services and who monitors the case on a continual
basis.
These services are also available on a
private pay basis. No eligibility guidelines apply.
